Jameson Wharton
Jameson Wharton Jameson was just 10 years old when his aunt died of cancer, and after seeing how multiple other people in his family as well as friends were affected by cancer, he was moved to action. He started the annual Football for a Cure charity game to support the American Cancer Society, and his efforts have raised thousands of dollars for cancer research. Earlier this year, the Hendersonville Parks and Recreation Department honored Jameson as the first recipient of its new program that recognizes athletes, coaches and parents who demonstrate positivity and good sportsmanship on the court and field. Not only was Jameson the first recipient of the award, but the city named the award after him. He hopes to go on to study science, physical health or astrophysics after high school.
