Jarred Amato Dr. Jarred Amato is a high school English teacher in Nashville. Alongside his students, Dr. Amato founded Project LIT Community in 2016. Over the past three years, they have worked together to build a national literacy movement with the goal of making books more accessible for students. Jarred, a two-time MNPS Blue Ribbon teacher, is an avid reader, writer and speaker who enjoys collaborating with fellow educators to improve literacy access and outcomes. He has served in several teacher-leadership roles over the past decade. Originally from Newton, Massachusetts, Dr. Amato received his B.A. from Vanderbilt University, his M.A.T. from Belmont University, and his Ed.D. from Lipscomb University. Starting at Maplewood High School, Project LIT now includes more than 1,200 schools across 48 states, including 40 chapters in the Metro Nashville Public School System. Jarred and his students continue to champion literacy day in and day out, working tirelessly to ensure that all children have access to great books.
